A museum in the tower of Kaunas Castle exploring the castle's history, its reconstructions and the city's origins.
The exhibitions occupy restored and reconstructed spaces in the castle tower, telling the story of the castle's changing form and purpose. Its history is linked to a military campaign in 1361, whose account mentions Kaunas.
Adult admission is 4 Eur. Students and visitors of retirement age pay 2 Eur; schoolchildren and preschool children enter free. The museum publishes the full list of concessions and required supporting documents.
From September to May, the museum opens Tuesday–Friday 10–18 and Saturday 10–17. From June to August, it stays open until 18 on Saturdays and opens 10–16 on Sundays. Closed on Mondays. Public-holiday exceptions apply, and it closes an hour earlier on the preceding day.
Ticket sales end 30 minutes before closing. Larger children's groups must book in advance. Check the official museum website for the conditions on your chosen date before travelling.
